The opening ceremony of World Expo 2025 was held in Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka, Japan, on Saturday. Themed “Designing Future Society of Our Lives,” the event will last from April 13 to October 13, 2025.
An estimated 158 countries and regions, along with seven international organizations, will take part in the event, according to the expo’s organizer.
The venue of the expo, divided into three zones, demonstrates three sub-themes of saving lives, empowering lives and connecting lives, highlighting topics such as work utilizing AI and robots as well as cross-cultural understanding.
A signature ring-shaped structure named “the Grand Roof” will be featured at the venue, which represents the philosophy of unity in diversity as a symbol of the expo, according to its organizer.
