Following allegations of fraud and forgery by Macrotech Developers against House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoAL), the latter has filed a police complaint to investigate into the alleged offences committed by unknown people.
The police complaint is not against any individual or company, said a spokesperson for HoAL.
In an email pertaining to the complaint, the spokesperson said, “We have taken note of the grave allegations. Following an immediate internal review of all available records, we wish to categorically state that there has been no instance of fraud or forgery committed by us. The claim that Boards of two of our Group Companies used fabricated board resolutions is false and strongly denied.”
The complaint with the police was filed on April 3 followed by a letter the next day.
Dispute over trademark
“The complaint is to investigate into the alleged offences committed by unknown people and not any particular person. This marks the beginning of an official external independent inquiry into the matter,” the email said.
Last week, Abhishek Lodha-controlled Macrotech Developers accused HoAL of fabricating board resolutions, permanent account numbers and forging signatures to mislead customers into believing they were buying properties from Macrotech, which sells residences under the ‘Lodha’ brand.
Both companies are involved in a trademark dispute in the courts, where Macrotech has filed a petition barring HoAL from using the ‘Lodha’ name to sell its properties. The dispute is being mediated by former Supreme Court Justice RV Raveendran.
